■ LSE INVESTMENT Makes First Investment in ‘EnerCrest’ to Operate 500MW BESS Project
■ First Joint Venture Project to Accelerate U.S. Market Expansion & North America-Focused Solution Sales
LS ELECTRIC, in collaboration with Samsung C&T’s Trading & Investment Group, has completed the establishment of a joint venture to advance its energy storage system (BESS) project in the United States, marking the beginning of its full-scale expansion into the local energy market.
LS ELECTRIC announced on the 26th that its North American investment subsidiary, LS ELECTRIC Investment (LSE Investment), has invested in EnerCrest, LLC, a joint venture established to develop a 500MW BESS project currently under development by Samsung C&T Renewables, LLC, Samsung C&T’s renewable energy development subsidiary in the U.S.
A 500MW capacity can supply electricity to approximately 100,000 U.S. households annually.
LSE Investment, which completed its corporate registration in Delaware, U.S., in November last year, has now made its first investment in EnerCrest as part of its strategy to expand its energy business in the region.
Through EnerCrest, LS ELECTRIC aims to maximize the business value of Samsung C&T’s 500MW BESS project currently in development. This initiative also serves as a springboard for LS ELECTRIC’s global ESS business expansion, extending its presence from Japan and Europe to North America as a leading total ESS solutions provider.
With North America entering a power infrastructure supercycle, driven by factors such as aging transmission, substation, and distribution networks, increasing demand for stable grid integration of renewable energy, and the construction of new power infrastructure for AI data centers, LS ELECTRIC plans to leverage its local investment subsidiary to localize its U.S. operations and accelerate the sales of North America-focused solutions.
A representative from LS ELECTRIC stated, “Our primary goal is to successfully complete the 500MW BESS project by leveraging the combined technological expertise and industry know-how of both companies.” The representative further emphasized, “Through LSE Investment, we will continue to explore new business opportunities and expand investments in North America, securing a strong foothold in the emerging energy business sector.”
