■ “Secure leadership in the local distribution market with high-end products offering high efficiency and stability”

LS ELECTRIC is ramping up its drive to penetrate the North American power distribution market by leveraging direct current (DC) power equipment solutions targeting AI data centers.

LS ELECTRIC announced that it will participate in ‘DISTRIBUTECH 2026,’ to be held for three days from February 3 to 5 (local time) at the San Diego Convention Center in the United States.

Regarded as North America’s largest exhibition in the power transmission and distribution sector, ‘DISTRIBUTECH’ brings together about 700 global energy and power companies—including ABB, Siemens, and GE Vernova—from 94 countries worldwide.

LS ELECTRIC plans to unveil solutions tailored to the North American market, including ▲ data center–optimized DC power equipment ▲ UL-certified distribution solutions ▲ extra-high-voltage transformers. In particular, it will spotlight DC power equipment for AI data centers and its energy management platform to intensively promote LS ELECTRIC’s next-generation data center power solutions.

Recently, at power-intensive sites such as data centers and large factories, DC distribution systems—which improve efficiency by reducing power conversion stages—are emerging as an alternative. Accordingly, LS ELECTRIC has set up an exhibition space that allows visitors to see at a glance its portfolio of power equipment needed for the DC ecosystem, enabling customers to directly confirm its world-class DC distribution technology. Along with this, it will also introduce the case of its Cheonan site ‘DC Factory,’ the world’s first example of an actual DC distribution system being implemented at a manufacturing plant.

It will also display strategic switchboard products that have obtained UL certification, which is essential for entering North America. LS ELECTRIC began securing UL certification starting in 2014 as the first domestic heavy electrical equipment company in Korea, and to date has obtained about 300 UL certifications—the largest number domestically.

It will also present a full lineup of transformers ranging from extra-high-voltage transformers to medium- and low-voltage distribution transformers. Through this, it aims to enhance its brand image as a Total Solution Provider across the entire power grid.

Last year, LS ELECTRIC’s global orders related to data centers exceeded KRW 1 trillion. By winning contracts spanning North American big-tech data center power infrastructure to distribution systems linked with microgrids (distributed power sources), it solidified its position in the North American market as a data center power infrastructure provider.

LS ELECTRIC’s strategy is to reinforce its standing in the North American distribution market by showcasing a wide array of strategic products at this exhibition. The North American power market is currently experiencing an “extra-high-voltage boom” driven by replacement of aging transmission infrastructure, and an even larger “distribution boom” is expected to follow. The North American distribution market is projected to be six times the size of the extra-high-voltage transformer market.
